Boolprop’s Next Top Model
Posted by gryffindork7
Hellooooo! This is not a real post. It is a fake post. A shameless “I’m still here but too lazy to write the good stuff” post. But still a post! Are you proud of me?
Maybe you should be, ‘cause I just fulfilled my 13-year-old self’s grandest ambition.
Uh, what?
Many of you probably know about Boolprop and/or have been active members of the forums sometime in the decade they’ve been around. I spent a truly shocking portion of my early teenage years on there, spewing my embarrassingness all over the Internet to be immortalized in archives rather than into real social interactions. Most of my time was spent in the “Competitions” subforum, where various members hosted Sims-based creative challenges. There were a lot of them back in the day, but the one you just had to get in on was the admin-run “Boolprop’s Next Top Model.” It was a multi-round showdown with eliminations and medals and all that fancy stuff. Being a little tweenybopper idiot, I was usually too intimidated to enter. I did, once, and flunked out fantastically in the first round.
Well, at some point I drifted away from Boolprop and every time I came back after that, the site’s general activity had taken a nosedive. So imagine my surprise when I checked in mid-summer to find Boolprop reborn! My old account was gone and so were my medals, but so were my embarrassing posts so that worked out okay. AND I was just in time for the sign-up round of BNTM Season 10.
Four months of crazy fun competition later, the finale results are in and I’m way too excited to say that my model and I were crowned winners! This post isn’t supposed to be gloaty, but I wanted to share my entries with you guys in case you might enjoy them at all. There was some really impressive creative work done all around, so check out the competition thread here. Special shout-out to Heather who was runner-up and Sammy who also put in some stunning entries!

Charlie Blake
Sign-Up Round
Charlie Blake is a fireball. It’s a good thing she lives on a houseboat in Isla Paradiso, where she has plenty of opportunity to cool off. When she isn’t arguing for sport, she’s arguing for body positivity and self-esteem in young women. Her friends have given up on interrupting her long, impassioned rants about the patriarchy. Charlie is a lifeguard by day and a bartender by night, alternately saving people from drowning and helping them drown their sorrows. She enjoys bonfires and barbecues but will abandon any conversation for a plate of firecracker shrimp.

Round 1 – Skills & Hobbies
A typical day in the life of Charlie consists of…
Staring down sharks.
Disagreeing with people.
And serving drinks with a (fake) smile.

Charlie Blake
Round 2 – Spirit Animal
Seagull
Seagulls. Totally docile when they’re bobbing along on the ocean.
Stick ’em on dry land, and suddenly they’re vicious attack birds who won’t rest until they’ve voiced their opinions about the sorry state of the world.
And they just love to steal your food.

Charlie Blake
Round 3 – Seven Deadly Sins
Wrath
Your idiot mouth is moving, but Charlie isn’t listening.
Chances are she’s dreaming up wonderful ways for you to suffer.
And trust me, you don’t want to feel the white-hot wrath of Charlie Blake.

Round 4 – Then & Now
Charlie’s Soapbox
Women today don’t know how good they have it. Back in the 19th century, our ancestors went to extreme lengths to mold and manipulate their bodies in the pursuit of unrealistic beauty standards.
These days, it doesn’t matter how you look. No one chases perfection anymore because there just isn’t any pressure to do so.
Think your job sucks? Try being a woman in the 60s, bound to house and home and catering to your husband’s every need.
Now, women can proudly be a part of the corporate world, where they enjoy the same opportunities and level of respect as their male colleagues.
Yes, things have certainly changed. Thank goodness we don’t have any more work to do!

Round 5 – Around the World
China
According to the legend of the Chinese Zodiac, the Jade Emperor wished to devise a way of measuring time, so he invited all the animals to a great banquet across the river. The order in which they arrived would determine the order of the years.
The tiger would have arrived earlier had she not been so out of her element. As it was, she placed a respectable third.
The dragon was also held up, but only because she was helping speed others along in their travels. She arrived fifth.
The snake was the most cunning. She hid on one of the horse’s legs and slithered forward at the last second, stealing the sixth spot in the zodiac.

FINALE – Life Event
Charlie will never forget the first time she saved someone’s life. A man was drowning in the ocean.
She dragged him to shore and did exactly as she’d been trained.
Only to find out he’d faked the whole thing.
:: :: :: :: ::
I originally had a line in there about him being her future boyfriend, apparently not realizing that it undermined the whole character arc I’d created. I blame it on the hip old lady — she’s totally picturing their future married life.
Oh yeah, and if Charlie looks familiar at all…
It’s because she’s a slightly-modified Valencia, a.k.a. Tomahawk and Gabby’s middle child.
So technically, a Langurd just won a modelling competition. BOOM, apocalypse.

Glad you’re still around and congrats on fulfilling your tween dreams! No shame in that. ;D
Also it would appear not all the Langurds are nearly as “dyfunkshunul” as the others. XD

Congrats on making it to the top! That’s another thing you can cross off your list. I really like Charlie too, I think she’s fantastic. *major high five*. I don’t really remember many tweeny dreams and goals, but I was crazy into Neopets and every single pet had a huge back story and their own HTML designed pages. They had human forms, you name it. I even competed with other Neopets people for adopting painted pets. You had to design pages to tell the back story you would give the pet. I’ve never won lmao. Made it to the finals, but that’s where it ends.

Thank you! Charlie was a lot of fun to work with. 🙂
OMG NEOPETS. 😀 I imagine there were a lot more people to compete with there. Especially given how competitive Neopets was in general, with all those auctions and rare items everyone cared so much about. I just spent all my time playing the games and earning points and trophies… feeding my pets the occasional 1/4 omelette if I remembered. 😛

Haha I don’t think I ever fed mine unless I was going to compete with them but I did the Moogle card game every day after finding on the internet how to successfully do it correctly and get all the points. MUAHAHAHA. And the December advent calendar. Remember the awesome huge messages that you would get at the top of the page when someone would accept your trade, so you would sit there and refresh the screen for hours. So much fun when I was younger. My friend and I always hogged the phone line in the dial-up days.

Yay, congratulations o/ I remember the Boolprop’s Next Top Model of yore, in Sims 2 times. COOLEST THING EVER, I really loved it but never bothered to enter myself, because everyone had these awesome entries and I was like “wat is even photoshop tho. lol comic sans” Probably.
ANYWAY, ABOUT BOOLPROP BECAUSE I HAVE BEEN THINKING ABOUT THIS. Do you remember The boolprop alphabet legacy? And were you a part of it? I had generation H, and the person before me (who took foreeeever, harr harr) was called Sam. WAS THAT SAM YOU?
This would have been in early 2007 because it was at the exact same time as I lost interest in Sims 2 because I started playing world of warcraft Q_Q My forum username was… “julai” I think, because I kept misspelling my own name with my fat fingers and decided to just roll with it and also because I had just as little imagination back then as I do today. *breathes*
Good times ❤ I wish boolprop would go back to it's old glory days, but I suspect that will never happen.

Yep that sounds about right haha, some of the entries back then were pretty mind-blowing… I still can’t Photoshop so I don’t know how I got by this time. Must be I found the magical combination of “Crop… Sharpen… Oversaturate…?? :D”
Omg…??? It is actually quite possible I think?? Because my old username was just “Sam,” and I feel like I at least tried to be involved in that legacy, but I don’t remember actually taking my turn or even getting the family for that matter, but that could be because 2007 was when I dropped off the face of boolprop because skating took over my life…? Generation G even rings a bell in some far corner of my memory…… HAHAHA. Imagine that. I want to search the WayBack archives and see if it’s true, but I suspect it’s too far back. In any case, I AM SO SORRY on behalf 14-year-old me! D: What an idiot flake! (Can’t say I’ve changed much, but still.) Hopefully this doesn’t put a taint on our present professional (ha ha) relationship!

Congrats on the win! I saw a couple of the entries, thought about entering, but couldn’t fathom being so creative with the themes. Yours are amazing, but then, anyone who’s ever read the Langurds would know that. 🙂
